Recycle and Recover Energy
Most plastic is easily recyclable. In fact, more and more plastic is being recycled into useful products. But a lot of the lightweight packaging we produce needs to fulfill the crucial role of protection for food and similar highly vulnerable products. Whilst these advanced films may be more difficult to recycle it doesn’t make them less attractive environmentally because they also bring major benefits in lowering overall life cycle impacts compared with heavier and bulkier materials. Plastic also has the advantage of never degrading to emit dangerous greenhouse gases.

So at Excelsior we work very hard to recycle everything we can – and to encourage brand owners, retailers and consumers to think more about recycling. We also support our trade association campaigns to promote the environmental credentials of plastic packaging. Click the PAFA and BPIF links at the foot of this page.
Finally, it’s worth remembering that plastic has a greater calorific value than coal. So, even if at the end of the day our products go to a safe, modern incinerator they will efficiently help generate electricity and heating for community schemes.
